Installation of PV Panels onto Existing Almshouses

In 2022, Clive Chapman Architects was commissioned to research potentially suitable solutions for the installation of photovoltaic panels on existing almshouse sites, owned by The Richmond Charities. Since then, applications for six sites have been submitted, and four have been approved so far, with more having been commissioned recently. Amongst the approved and submitted sites, these include Grade II and Grade II* Listed Buildings, setting a precedent for the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. The installation of the panels will provide a much-needed sustainable solution for the reduction of energy costs for The Richmond Charities’ residents, whose ethos is to support and house elderly people in need.  Below is an example of one of the Grade II sites, Bishop Duppa's Almshouses, along with a photo of the progress so far on another one of our sites, Queen Elizabeth’s Almshouses.
