CLIENT  Wealden District Council

DATES  Outline planning approved at committee, February 2020

Chiddingly Road, Horam

This is a current outline application for a rural housing scheme for a site over 1.5 hectares, to be developed by the local council. The tenure mix includes affordable and market sale townhouses, houses and maisonettes. First phase is for 36 dwellings, a large public open space of 6900m², and pedestrian rights of way linking to an existing woodland, pond and town.

Part of the process is for a sensitive approach to the design due to the rural town character, and key consultation to involve the local residents and the parish.

The scheme meets current local and national standards with regards to space requirements. It also incorporates a sustainable drainage strategy, whilst generating a density of 43 dwellings per hectare.
